Murals

"lady serendipity"  private home,  napa valey, california

the glass mosaic was made from stained glass & 18 carat gold pieces. like all my artwork, did I make this piece in my own studio, on 6 individual cement plates, which i then installed and finished at the owners home.

on the day this piece was installed, while putting in the final screw to hold it secure in place,  an 7,1 earthquake hit the area, shaking the ground so hard, my dog and myself could hardly move to  run out the house. When we finally made it home, happy it was still standing, my working area, where "the lady" was laying that same morning, was completely destroyed...she got lucky!

golfo dulce, costa rica...what an experience this was.

after meeting with the customer a couple of times,  listening what he imagines himself as centre piece in his living room, I went to my little jungle home to work on the design. Not thinking twice what effort it would take, just to get the materials to create the piece, living in the jungle! my home was only reached by car in the dry season, knowing how difficult it will be to have the 18  individual pieces  moved by boat i had only 2 month left to get started and finish on time. the very next morning i sat on a private flight to the Capital of Costa Rica, San Jose, where I was picked up by a chauffeur, with a interpreter, to bring me to the biggest tile place there. The owner of the place was ordered to get  me any tile I wanted,  I felt like a princess.  because electric tile saws where not known in costa rica,  I cut all the pieces with an hand tile saw...the jungle style.  I had one helper, who's most important  job  was, to keep me awake by making sure my coffee cup was never empty, and to teach me spanish, he did his job well. I finished the project in less then 2 month and learned spanish the same time ....just on time ! I continued on the same property with the swimming pool, spending nights doing what i love to do...mosaic!  in the jungle of costa rica...this project you can find under "swimming pools"

boston, massachusetts,  marble & granite

also created in my home, shipped and installed by a tile worker with 4 screws at site, grouted to finish

scituate, massachusetts, tile...this piece i did on site, for the fun of it.  i was able to live at the house and had the chance to get to know the area of boston. I enjoyed it very much, i had a great companion...my moluccan cockatoo "Maya" he did not teach me more spanish, no,  but something more important, a lesson for life...he tought me, no matter what happen..to learn to stay calm...stress was something he could not deal with...and his way of showing emotion was something quiete impressing..quiet loud!  (I rescued him from a women, who thought a parrot would look pretty in her home. now he has got a wonderful cockatoo wife, living with about 100 other of his kind.)
